Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Area Behind Right Lower Leg Of Child
My grandson who is 18 months old has a red, itchy area on the back of his right lower leg. I was thought to be exzema, because we have this in our family. After checking skin conditions in kids, I was concerned it might me ringworm. There is definitely a ring appearance to it, with dried dot like areas in a circle. He scratches it, so it is hard to let exactly what the center of it is like. Mom has been putting creams and lotions on it. It disappears and reappears. I know he needs to be seen for this, but if it is ringworm how important is it that he sees someone soon. He has an upcoming 2 yrs check-up his mom was waiting for, is this a wise thing to wait with?? thank you YYYY@YYYY
If it is ringworm he can wait to be seen because it is not an emergency situation. You can upload a photo in reports for me to see it and give a better opinion. If it is ringworm washing well and keeping it well dry is needed. Use anti-fungal ointment on it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
