Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Blotches On The Chest
I have never been allergic to anything in my life, but I think I have developed a reaction to peanuts. I have red blotches on my chest from shoulder to shoulder along my collar bone, also on the top of my back. It itches moderately. Does it sound like a food allergy? Thanks. YYYY@YYYY
If the eruptions are following intake of peanut only, then can be considered as reaction to that otherwise not. There can be allergy to atmospheric pollen, cloth content or else as part of differential diagnosis of the same.
So far as treatment aspect is concerned, it would be advisable for
- local application of steroid creams
- bath in a tub with lukewarm water added epsom salt and lavender oil for faster soothing and healing
- anti histamine as cetirizine or chlorpheniramine maleate via prescription from your doc
- discuss the need of antibiotics with or without steroid tablets with your doc after he or she examines the blotches
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
