Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Small Pimples On The Legs

Every several months I get small bumps on my legs below the knees. These itch and when scratched, break the skin. Eventually they clear up, but until then continue to itch and are red. I am 73 Years old and have no health issues to speak of. I do have perifferial neuropathy in my feet. I am not diabetic. Thanks for getting back to me. Bob YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Red itchy pimples that regularly come back in the same spot, especially if they are symmetrical (both sides) very likely are due to dermatitis/eczema.
Keeping your skin in the area hydrated (vaseline cream daily) may help prevent them from coming back. Betamethasone cream can be used twice a day when the lesions are present.

If no improvement with the above treatment or if you notice any worsening you will need to talk to your doctor.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
