Suggest Treatment For Red Patch On The Leg After Insect Bite

My daughter has a bite on her leg than she noticed yesterday that has a red patch about 6 inches around the bite. It is warm and this morning she felt sick to her stomach but it subsided.Her muscles are tense. We are not sure what bit her . I feel that we may need to take her to the emergency room. your thoughts?

Your daughter could have developed cellulitis around the bite wound. Cellulitis is basically a skin infection. You should consult with your doctor so that he can examine the severity of the problem and decide if oral antibiotics are adequate or if she needs to be admitted to hospital to receive intravenous medication.
