Suggest Treatment For Red Rashes And Fungal Infection
I have developed a red more solid looking rash and the immediate thought of the hospital er, thought it was a fungal infection. I want to know if the tick can cause this? The bug looked less like a tick. I did not see any legs. It seems to be spreading. Is Benedryl helpful? I have a follow up appointment with a doctor. Are there other insects that would cause such a solid looking red rash?
I can understand your concern. It seems like an allergic reaction to the poison of the insect. Benadryl can help, but if it does not, then you should switch to other antihistamines.
I suggest that you start Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days. It will work against any insect bite.
If the rash is not resolved in 5 days or if the condition worsens, then you should see a physician or a dermatologist for clinical examination and further investigations.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah BDS, MPH
