Suggest Treatment For Red Spots And Soreness While Recovering From Tonsillectomy

Im 23 and am on day 9 of tonsillectomy recovery. The last 3 mornings I ve been waking up extremely sore (I assume scabs are falling off), with a little blood? There s only a tiny tint of it in my spit and I drink ice water to be safe, but there s these tiny (pin head sized) red clot looking spots and the tonsil bed scabs. They always seem to be gone by the afternoon but I keep seeing new ones the last 3 morning. Is this a concern? I ve read a bit about hemorrhaging and read that tiny clots can mean a much bigger bleed will happen?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have red spots and soreness while recovering from tonsillectomy .It can occur due to infection in throat that can be due to infection post tonsillectomy . Other causes can be upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, lung infection etc. I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray of sinuses, sputum culture, chest x ray etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. Along with antibiotics you can also be advised antihistamines like Levocetrizine . Doing warm saline gargles can also help , avoid spicy and chilled foods.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
