Suggest Treatment For Red Spots On The Back Of Throat
Yes..I see some red spots in the back of my throat that are on the upper part of the throat. Went to the Dr. Not strep and said I had upper respiratory infection...but didn t know what the spots were. Can you answer me..maybe answer what they could be.
You are suffering from red spots at the back of your throat. You have URTI. The red bumps or spots that appear at the back of the throat, sometimes also appear like ulcers. They are caused due to sore throat, viral infection, pharyngitis, strep throat, etc.
Usually, treating red spots at the back of the throat involves soothing the irritation or gargling with salt water to kill off infection-causing germs. Sore throat caused by a viral infection can cause red bumps as well as coughing, phlegm, or sinusitis. It is treated with a course of antibiotics (Augmentin or Doxycycline-100) if bacterial infection is detected.
Infections causing red throat bumps can spread deeper into your respiratory tract. Do not neglect take antibiotics, analgesics & gargle throat with warm salt water -3 times a day. You should take liquid diet or semi solid diet so that you don't hurt your throat and allow it to heal faster. Stay adequately hydrated, take fluids and water.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
