Suggest Treatment For Redness After An Insect Bite
I was recently bitten by an insect and my back was inflamed with bullseye sore which included a large redness surrounding the bite. I went to the doctor who told me that it looked as though I had 2 insect bites & gave me an antibiotic and some mupirocin ointment. The sore and redness is much improved but I now have had a headache and a stiff neck for 3 days. Could I have lyme disease?
Yes, the symptoms can be due to Lyme's Disease as symptoms of stiff neck and headache with bull's eye like rash can be due to Lyme's Disease..
But my suggestion is to first of all get a blood test done to check for antibodies against the bacteria, if present can confirm diagnosis..
A blood culture can also help I'm ruling out the exact strain of bacteria responsible for the Infection and appropriate antibiotics can be advised against it for faster relief..
You can be advised antibiotics like Doxycycline, Cefuroxime etc for relief.. Also apply a combination of antibiotic and steroid ointment and do cool compresses over the rash..
Hope this helps..
Regards .
