Suggest Treatment For Redness After Circumcision

I am an adult male who underwent a partial circumcision. I had a 1 inch bridge that was corrected. The post op instructions were to use Bacitracin ointment. I have no infection and the stitches look good. There is redness and I wash/ rinse the area regularly before applying the ointment, after which I cover with a light gauge. I have used Mupirocin in the past with good results. Can I use it on the surgery site as well and stop using the Bacitracin?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you can use either bacitracin or mupirocin.
Both are antibiotic ointments that work well on inflammation and infection.
Also, beclomethasone and gentamicin work well.
You can use one of them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
