Suggest Treatment For Redness And Irritation Of Throat
Hi Dr. I am 33 year old male athlete/weight lifter that came down with Strep positive throat almost 2 months ago treated with 2- 5 day rounds of ZPAK and felt 90 perecent better. i still have a red irritated throat which my internist thinks is silent refux and gave me a PPI (Dexilant). My CBC, CMP Thyroid are all normal. NO HIV or Cancer. Also tested negative for Hpylori. I feel really well its just the irriatated red throat tha WILL not go away, sometimes feels as if something is stuck and i have the red bumps visible small blood vessels on the back of the pharnyx which look just like Chronic granular pharyngitis (iv e studied some medicine and it is for sure that). I do not have Post nasal drip but am taking allegra for sneezing i might note. I have been gargling with salt water and doing all i can (limiting diet and cut out social alcohol). my last 3 strep tests were all negative even at the lab within last week. I know an ENT visit is needed however what else can be done as im reading most people with this condition are stuck with it. Looks like their performing Coblation Surgery to fix this. This is the last thing i want to take on right now. Can anyone offer some precise guidelines to remeiate this annoying condition besides all the basic rinses, PPI pills and sinus meds? im looking for ways to take down the redness and irrittion as some Dr out there has to have some insight. Regards, Greg
