Suggest Treatment For Redness And Itching In The Hands

I am taking gabapentin 100 mg after shoulder surgery. My right hand palm is red and itches driving me crazy. Iget relief by soaking it inhotwater followed by holding an icepack. Relief lasts about 1 1/2 hours. In your opinion am I allergict to gabapentin. What can I take to speed the drug from mysystem.

Hello,

I think should report this side effect to the doctor who prescribed gabapentin. Stop the medication and report to your doctor immediately.

To me it's not allergy related to gabapentin.

To me, might be due to shoulder surgery itself. If the surgery was on right shoulder, I think, it could be damaged nerve of right hand. However, that is to get confirmed by neurologist.

Plus, hand eczema is quiet often especially if the palm is also dry apart of being red and itchy.
Avoid soaking in hot water. Instead should soak in cold water or should apply cold compresses every 4 - 6 hours.

Apply hydrocortisone cream locally for the itchiness.
