Suggest Treatment For Redness And Pain At The Site Of Insect Bite

I think I ve been bitten by a spider. It started with a fire burning pain like alcohol on a wound under my arm close to the armpit. It looked like a pimple with redness around it bigger then the size of a golf ball. It kept getting bigger and on the second day; I popped it. For the past three days, I ve been squeezing thick white gunk out of it like a pimple but worse. Not all the time white gunk comes out. At first alot of water was coming out until I squeezed harder. Then the thick white gunk would come after. Now I m squeezing water, thicker white gunk, and now blood. No other symptoms except a sore arm, hands tingling, and chest a little sore. This is day five. Three days I ve been squeezing it out. I ve been putting hydrogen peroxide on it and soaking in Epsom salt when I take a bath.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Whether it was a spider bite or not, it now sounds like you have an abscess. If someone come to me with the symptoms you described, I would prescribe an antibiotic as well as treat locally with Betadine solution. Since the antibiotic is a prescription medicine, I suggest you see your family doctor right away.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
