Suggest Treatment For Redness On The Cheeks While Having Psoriatic Arthritis

I have psoriatic arthritis and have simponi aria infusions (150mg) every eight weeks. Recently I have noticed a classic butterfly type redness on my cheeks. I also have skin flushes from the neck up several times a day. I am wondering if I could also have lupus since both lupus and psoriatic arthritis are autoimmune diseases.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sometimes autoimmune diseases may coexist. If you are having a butterfly rash on your face this may be Lupus disease.

You will need to talk to your doctor and have a thorough examination and some tests as several criteria have to be fulfilled before this diagnosis is ruled out/in.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
