Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Actually, I was born with a retinal cataract in my right eye. I didn t have any surgery till the age of 8 when my right eye started going white(The cataract was removed, the half of the retine was damaged consequently). I used to have a stronger squint in that eye before the operation, and i was told by the doctors that the squint can be totally removed by surgery after the age of 18. Now, I am 19, but I am just worried about this surgery especially that I have heard from another doctor that the squint surgery is useless as I actually can t see with that eye(almost blind)... I actually wear glasses and have a weak left eye too with a power of -5. What are your recommendations please.
it can be usual cataract and while removal can cause retinal detachment. detachment can be treated by laser surgerysquint surgery at this age can be only cosmetic. if the vision is very low then what is the use of squint surgery. with what ever vision improved by specs is enough.
