Suggest Treatment For Rib And Arms Pain After Injury

I broke my ribs after falling down stairs during Gustav and still today they hurt. I broke the usual rib and one under my arm as well. The commonly broken rib was a green break until six weeks later when it became a compoud break (is that it?) and my doctor found a new break under my left arm where two inches of my rib was missing. It just exploded or disappeared or whatever and two inches were gone. It hurt so bad and I could not lift my left arm for ages and today it still hurts off and on. I want to know why. Aparently, the x-rays show that the ribs are healed, well they showed the calcium cloud last time x-rays were taken and that was a few years ago. Why do they still hurt? Am I going to plagued with this pain the rest of my life and if so, what can I take to make it not hurt?
