Suggest Treatment For Right Sided Heaviness And Chest Pain

My father has been recently diagnosed of RBBB based on ECG but echocardiography is normal. Now he has been told to undergo coronary angiography. He is hypertensive for many years. Recently he complained of right sided heaviness and chest pain. Please suggest what should be done next and whether angiography is really required?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Any sort of chest heaviness in a patient with risks for coronary disease may be caused by ischemia. Ischemia is a chest pressure caused when there are blockages in the coronary vessels so that the heart muscle is not getting enough oxygen. The only way to really look at those vessels is with an angiogram. The RBBB in some cases is caused by the underlying ischemia so I think he really needs the angiogram to determine the cause of the chest pain.
