Suggest Treatment For Right-sided Pain Post A Hysterectomy

Many years ago I had a hysterectomy but they left my ovaries! I am 57 now with a lot of pain on my right side my doctor has told me my right ovary isn t shrinking like it should but the ultrasound showed they couldn t get a picture of it? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
As they have not removed your ovaries during hysterectomy there is possibility of development of ovarian cyst which can lead to pain abdomen. As your ultrasound is not able to make out the right ovary you better undergo either CT scan abdomen and pelvis or MRI to find out the actual status of the right ovary. If the ovary size is normal though it is not completely got atrophied no need to worry and you can take treatment for pain. If any other causes of pain at right side of the abdomen like appendicitis etc are diagnosed in CT scan or MRI you may need to get treatment accordingly.
