Suggest Treatment For Ruptured Ear Drum In A Child
MY DAUGHTER HAD A RUPTURED LEFT EAR DRUM ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. SHE ALSO HAD A LOT OF INFECTION IN THE EAR. SHE WAS PUT ON ANTIBIOTIC FOR TWO WEEKS. AFTER SHE FINISHED THE ANTIBIOTIC, WE HAD TO WAIT A WEEK AND THEN WENT BACK TO DR FOR FOLLOW UP. THE EAR STILL HAD SOME SLUDGE BUT WAS HEALING. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, SHE WAS HAVING MORE PAIN AND MUFFLED EAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. WE WENT BACK TO DR AND THEY REMOVED MORE BUILD UP WHICH THEY THOUGHT COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE EAR DRAINING. A COUPLE WEEKS WENT BY AND THE EAR SEEMED TO BE FINE. RECENTLY WE WENT TO A HOTEL AND MY DAUGHTER SWAM IN THE POOL.(SATURDAY) BY MONDAY SHE HAD AN EARACHE AGAIN FOLLOWED BY STINGING AND RINGING. WE WENT BACK TO THE DR AND THEY REMOVED MORE SLUDGE BY GIVING HER EAR A BATH. SHE FELT GREAT AFTER IT WAS DONE, BUT WITHIN TWO DAYS IT WAS MUFFLED AGAIN AND HURTING SOME. WE ARE GOING BACK TO DR AGAIN TOMORROW AND ALSO REQUESTING A REFERRAL TO AN ENT. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?
As per your history is concerned she had a rupture D ear drum but till now no specific pathology has been evaluated so you are visiting doctor again and again and trying to manage it in conservative way.Now you do an exploratory tympanotomy to see actually what has happened in the middle ear. After knowing the exact reason treatment will be easy. Thanks
