Hello,

Ruptured ear drum commonly heals within three months by itself. You should avoid swimming and be very careful while taking bath, do not let water enter your affected ear or it may worsen symptoms. Usually clogged ears clear up in three days but sometimes it may take a week or so depending upon the impact of injury. You can take Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) orally, it also helps to relieve ear congestion caused by inflammation or infection. Take analgesics, one SOS when required to reduce discomfort due to any swelling in the middle ear.

Do not touch, scratch or pick the ears. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, to rule out any infection. You will be treated accordingly. If it is causing you discomfort & takes longer time to heal you may have to go through surgical procedure to close the rupture. Avoid blowing your nose while the wound is in the process of being healed. Protect your ear from cold.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
