Suggest Treatment For Scalp Folliculitis

How can I get rid of folliculitis on my scalp? I've been to skin doctor, which he sent off a sample to be tested and said that the oil sack at the base of my hair follicle was infected. When I'm awake I keep my hands off of them, but during sleep they must start to itch and I scratch until the bleed. The doctor has put me on antibiotics, either not strong enough or long enough to get rid of them.
Here's the kicker, I've had Type 1 diabetes for 40 years since I was 11 years old. On a One Touch Ping Insulin Pump and a Heart patient as well! Last A1C was 8.4, which for years was above 10 until I got my pump.
Any suggestions on how I get rid of this problem with my scalp?
Oh, I have to take 2000ml of amoxicilln one hour before I see dentist and so a couple of daays after taking those meds my scalp almost clears up, but then comes back.
Please help and thank you for your time, MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Scalp folliculitis that gets improved with antibiotic intake seems to be due to bacterial infection and as you are not on a proper course of antibiotics the condition does not seems to be resolving..
I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and along with a proper clinical evaluation he can also advise you proper antibiotics to be taken orally as well as Fuscidic acid gel, clindamycin solution to be apllied topically..
Steroid lotions and long term intake of anti-histamines can also be advised..
You can also be advised a long term antibiotic course like Erythromycin for complete relief..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
