Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Plaques in scalp can be due to causes like
Scalp Psoriasis or Seborrheic dermatitis..
Both are commonly occurring skin conditions of the scalp and you need to consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation is mostly sufficient for making a proper diagnosis as the Psoriatic flakes are thick and when removed leaves typical blood spots..
It is also caused due to some medications and in case if your father is taking calcium channel blockers for blood pressure it can be a cause..
Seborrheic dermatitis is commonly
fungal infection and has thin white to yellow flakes..
In case if Scalp Psoriasis is confirmed as the diagnosis he can be advised to apply steroid ointments over it..
Keeping the crusts or flakes moist and lubricated to prevent itching like applying Petroleum jelly..
At times PUVA
light therapy is also given to reduce scales..
In case if it is seborrheic dermatitis then shampoo containing
Ketoconazole, coal tar, zinc, selenium and
salicylic acid along with topical application of steroid lotions can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
