Suggest Treatment For Sciatica Pain Along With Tremors And Numbness In Legs

hello I am a 44 year old male and had a microdisectomy which went well ,after physical therapy I went back to work only to be rear ended within a month of my return. MRI shows reherniation of my L4/L5 with floatation along the spinal chord aswell as a severe nerve impingement of the L5/S1 and severe spinal stenosis.this happened in September .Im suffering from severe siatic pain numbness in the legs and worst of all severe leg tremors ,ive seen 20 plus doctors most have never seen this before.my legs mostly the right side violently shake 24 hours a day and I haven t been able to leave my house in nearly nine months aside from doctors appointments.ive been in two hospitals.one in Nyc and as ive said ive seen many doctors ,a moment specialist out of Albany ny diagnosed it as phycogenic tremors due to chronic back pain. Some say its from the nerve impingement .aside from prescription pain medication ive had zero treatment.ive been to pain management specialists and when they saw my tremors they wanted my to go to the ER which I had just left after a five day stay.ive been in agony for nine months and cant get a straight answer anywhere. Is it because I just had surgery or are they scared of the tremors I just don t understand how they can just let me suffer for so long.I in no way ever take the why me attitude and always tell my self it can be worse, but at the same time I want my life back im to young to be in a wheel chair or using a cain in my home.every doctor has a different story and I have all the medical proof one can have,i feel that I cant find a doctor who wants to take this on.

Hello,

You have history of herniation of L4/l5 & nerve impingement L5 / S1 and now you are experiencing sciatica pain with tremors and numbness in the legs. Herniated disc with nerve impingement is commonly treated with conservative methods to avoid complications. Treatment is given with pain relievers, NSAIDS to reduce inflammation, pain and irritation of the nerve. Ice or heat therapy, staying at rest or restricted movements is advised. Do not exert yourself.

Epidural steroid injections helps to reduce sensitivity of the nerve fibers. Get connected to a Physiotherapist. Physical therapy is effective, it will help to improve symptoms but you will have to have patience, nerve problems may take 3-6 months to improve. Get regular massage therapy done to strengthen the muscles and improve blood circulation. Massage should be gentle. Avoid doing any heavy work like gardening, driving, sitting for a long time, strenuous exercise, laundry, etc.

Since your symptoms are indicative of developing peripheral neuropathy, you should get clinically examined by a Neurologist, get nerve conduction velocity tests, blood tests, imaging tests done to detect the degree of nerve damage. You will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, include anti inflammatory food in your diet. Take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 or supplements to help nerve repair.

Take vitamin E rich food and food rich in minerals. It may take time bit symptoms should reduce. If symptoms do not improve your treating doctor may suggest radiofrequency ablation, a non surgical procedure to reduce chronic pain. Stay away from stress and addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
