Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Diagnosed in 1967 w/ scoliosis. Milwaukie brace. Now at age 61 I find myself in serious need of help with my scoliosis. I can tell it is serious and progressing quickly in spite if physical therapy. Surgeon near Corvalis, Oregon? My primary doc is now actually is using the language neurosurgeon . I seek minamilly invasive. Thanks!
Based on the history you have shared, with age progression, the bone resorption may get accelerated which may worsen the scoliosis.
You may need to have bone scan or dexa scan for T score estimation to decide for any need of bisphasphonates like ibandronate or calcium supplements.
I am afraid if radiographic evaluation finds to have structural change beyond the scope of medical therapy or minimally invasive supportive therapy a spinal surgeon intervention may be unavoidable in such a case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
