Suggest Treatment For Septic Olecranon Bursitis On Elbow

Hi .I'm concerened about my boyfriend, he was recenetly diagnosed with 'septic' olecranon bursitis in his due to a hard blow to his elbow, the swelling is starting to travel down his arm towards his wrist, the area is very tender & red, is this normal?
