Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal And Vaginal Pain

I am married for last 8 months and we have sex quite often..but from the last two months, my wife has been suffering with severe abdominal and vaginal pain which she starts experiencing before a week of her menstruation period. Why is that happening? She admits that she had had never experienced like this before as the pain is very different to what she used to have during periods previously.

Hi,

The abdominal pain starting a week before the periods is very likely due to dysmenorrhea which consists of symptoms that periodically develop before and last during the periods but most of the time it goes away with the ending of the menstrual periods.

To help with the pains due to dysmenorrhea she can take oral contraceptives for 3-4 months and or ibuprofen for the days she has the pains.

If your wife gets those pains even after the menstrual periods then she will need to have a gynecological examination and also tests to rule out chlamydia and gonorrhea and if she has not had a pap test in the last 2 years it may be a good time to have one.

A vaginal ultrasound might be ordered by the doctor as well to visualize her pelvic organs and help in diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
