Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain And Constipation

I haven t had a decent bowel movement lately and I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain in my stomach. And sharp pains going through my back which I assumed was gas. I went to the restroom but my bowels never moved. I feel like they need to but everytime I go try nothing happens. What do I need to do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your mom have symptoms of severe abdominal pain and constipation. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query gastroenteritis, lactose intolerance, electrolyte imbalance, food poisoning, irritable bowel syndrome and crohn's disease. Need not to worry. You should take diet rich in fibres and take plenty of fluids. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound , endoscopy along with that take history. Doctor may prescribe laxative , ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine. For now eat light and non spicy , avoid food like seafood and nuts , take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down.
