Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain While On Celecoxib

My husband has had abdominal pain on and off for 4 days, sometimes intense pain and sometimes an annoying stomach ache that won t go away. The first day it started within 3-4 hours after he had taken Celecoxib 200 MG for back pain. He also takes Diclofenac every a.m. for arthritis and had taken one that morning. That same night (Wednesday), I applied Voltaren gel on his aching back. He has a lot of gas and his burps smell like eggs. We re wondering if the stomach pain is from overdoing NSAIDs and, if so, shall we continue to wait it out until we call his doctor on Monday or go to the ER? What would you recommend?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, yes, it is likely due to the long history of NSAIDS. I would suggest to use NSAID with stomach protection or cover by adding antacids like Omperazole before meals.

For acid reflux symptoms, motility agents like Domperidone can be used. Avoiding spicy, greasy or heavy meals is also recommended.
