Suggest Treatment For Severe Acid Reflux In A Child

My daughter is 3/5 month old. She has acid reflux and takes 0.6 ml of Zantac twice a day. It seems that it doesn t work anymore. She spits up curdled milk and cries a lot and also has upset stomach. She is also very gassy. Does she need more dosage of Zantac or is it something else? She is not comfortable at all and she can t sleep.

Hello,

I think you should change formula milk if you put her only on formula milk. Sometimes, allergy or intolerance to formula milk might make baby tummy upset.

Should raise her head from shoulders. Plus, take an anatomical cap for the feeding bottle to avoid too much ingestion of air.

Do not move her too quickly after feeding. Make her burp after feeding, do not put her down immediately after feeding.

Discuss with her pediatrician to get her stool examination to rule out intolerance for proper feeding plus should rule out candida infection of bowels. Probiotic use can also be helpful.

To me, there is no need to add Zantac dosage. Just follow these changes first.

Discuss this with her caring pediatrician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
