Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has been itching in her backside (rectum) for a few weeks. I ve looked and I don t see anything. I have tried warms baths with baking soda and hydrocortisone and they don t seem to be making a difference. I ve looked for pinworms to no avail. Any solutions? Thanks, Vicki
I understand your concern for your daughter and thanks for referring me. Itching in anal area can be due to many reasons:
1) due to infections around anus or worm infestation.
2) hair around anus which sometimes irritate and cause itching.
3) soiled undergarments, they have to be washed in hot water and dettol.
4) itching can sometimes be habitual. If so, counsel her yourself or by a specialist.
Get a swab test done and rule out for any infections. Till then try to keep the region dry always. Good personal hygiene is required. Try not to wear tight clothes. It's not a serious issue to be worried. Be assured she will be fine soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Suhas Chauhan
