Suggest Treatment For Severe Ankle Sprain

I am experiencing sharp, burning, prickly sensations on the top/base of my 4th toe. Never had this before. However, have had severe ankle sprain and trauma to the heel of the foot approx 20 years ago. Happened once yesterday, now frequent and very unexpected.
