Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety And Paranoia

My children s father is 70 years old, was diagnosed with prostate cancer, had it removed & underwent radiation treatments. He s also had triple by-pass surgery and has been taking Lupron injections each every 3 months for the cancer. For the last month or so, he s been experiencing severe anxiety and has exhibited very irrational fears & odd behavior, along with paranoia. He s turning into a stranger. He actually has symptoms of dementia...all commencing just a few weeks ago. Thanks, Connie

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the condition is due to severe depression and combined anxiety. After thorough clinical examination in my clinic, I do recommend anti-depressant as Venlafaxine or other serotonin reuptake inhibitor which will help both aspects of irritability, anxiety and associated features.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
