Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety Despite Medication

Hello, My husband 68yr lost his nerve after our 31yr daughter lost her life in a car accident when the opposite driver careered into her. She did swerve off the road but this drunken driver still didn t miss. At least her swerving off the road kept our other daughter safe with only very bad bruising. We had seen this daughter go through the most rigorous cancer treatment in 99 but she was on deck again by 02 and was a very big help to us in the home and business. My husband has had a history of sicknesses including cancer too and was had been on Seroquel for the 10years previous to our daughters accident in 2012. After the accident he became completely out of control and after many trials the doctor put him on Sapharis. Later he added brintellex. After he started sapharis he had three falls out on the street when he was walking for exercise. This was over a span of 6-8months. The doctor didn t think it was side effects of sapharis of parkinsonism. My husband still was not lost his anxiety enough so the psychiatrist put him on Brintellex. He also takes a sleeping tablet, normison and has two valium a day. As time went on he often would lose big bits of dribble out of his mouth when going to talk and his tongue began to get in the way when he talked. He began to be hard to understand. We saw a neurologist and he took muscle test and it wasn t the muscle wasting disease which I began to think it was as he has gone from 120kg to 70 kg. That neurologist decided it was parkinsonism and put him on madapor. Then we saw another neurologist and he agreed it was a side effect of sappharis and said to go of madapar if it doesn t help and also see if the doctor will take you off Saphris. The doctor took him off saphris and then gave him 2xpaxam. He is now in a terrible way.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

You are suffering from severe anxiety for the injury of your daughter and yourself suffering from cancer. Due to severe anxiety, you are having insomnia. As the doctor has changed the drug try to observe the changes and try to see the the side effect and find out the drug is the cause or not. If you respond to drug then Parkinson is confirmed. Then treatment for Parkinson may continue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash, Ophthalmologist
