Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr Koregol. My heart infraction number is 13% and I am not an candidate for heart transplant due to breast cancer. The chemo caused the CHF and severely damaged my left ventricle. I have maintained a good positive attitude which I know is helpful but I m starting to have more anxiety as I get weaker. My doctor has recommended a LVAD but I feel the risk is too high for me. I know this device is used as a temporary measure while one awaits a heart transplant. I have not found any information on people who have lived with this implant for more than two years. My question is: In your opinion, what is the lowest infraction number that the heart can still function? I refuse to give up. I do everything in my power to stay as healthy as possible.
