General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It may be a neurological pain, this is called neuralgia and it is due to abnormal functioning of the nerves (neuropathy.)

You may need assessment in terms of physical examination and imaging of the spinal cord (nerves to the waist, back and legs, come through here). It may be best to see a neurologist.

There are meds that are used for neuralgia such as Amitriptyline, Tegretol, Lyrica, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
