Suggest Treatment For Severe Body Itching While On Prednisone

I have been given every medication the allergy drs could think of to stop the severe itching of my nose, face and in some instances my body and nothing works. The only thing that stops the itching is a prescribed regimen of prednisone. Not a fan of being on steroids. The itching inside my nose is so bad sometimes I have nose bleeds from rubbing and blowing my nose. It s affecting my daily activities. I think I may have Hashimoto Thyroiditis. What tests do I need to ask my doctor to run to determine if this is accurate?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hashimoto's is related to low levels of thyroid hormone which can be a cause of itching though it is usually generalized.

You may want to consider allergy tests, either skin or blood tests, to find out which allergen is specifically causing your itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
