Suggest Treatment For Severe Bruising On The Shin

Hi I went over on my ankle last Thursday and it went underneath me. The swelling went down a bit by the Friday. It was sore to walk on. Since Sunday the swelling has stayed the same. Phoned my dr and she did telephone consultation and got and X-ray yesterday (nothing broken) but they never said anything else. I can walk on it but sometimes the more I walk it gets sore. I also get pins and needles in it. I also have a large bruise on my shin which I ve had a burning like sensation from. I m due back at my work tomorrow and unsure if I should go in??!!

Hello,

For a minor bone bruise, your doctor may recommend rest, ice, and pain relievers. They may suggest that you take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Aleve or ibuprofen. If the bone bruise is in your leg or foot, elevate your leg to help ease swelling. Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes a few times per day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
