I am going through cluster headaches episodes for 2 weeks now. Is there any medications that can be taken sbefore I go to sleep so I do not wake up 3 times a night from sound sleep with these headaches. A doctor has put me on topiramate before if I got one at night I would take an Imitrex or a sumatriptan succ and pain would stop in 15 to 20min and I would sleep through the night. I am not finding that with the topiramate 50mg.
As per your query you have feeling of throat obstruction with history of cluster headache . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like abnormalities in the hypothalamus cluster , consumption of alcohol can quickly trigger a splitting headache or medications such as nitroglycerin. I would suggest you to eat healthy and do mind relaxing exercises like meditation and yoga , drink plenty of water and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult neurologist for proper diagnosis and treatment . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI along with other neurological examination . Doctor may prescribe triptans , octreotide , local anesthetics , dihydroergotamine or ergots . Nerve blocks are also helpful.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
