Suggest Treatment For Severe Cold And Congestion

Because of severe cold and congestion, coughing real bad I was given azithromycin 6 tabs 1 a day but not sure if I should continue and since its a holiday I m not sure if I should take again. It gives me a quick heart beat and funny feeling but goes away in less then 5 min. I m on my first tablet about 5 hr into it. Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Most likely you are having upper respiratory tract infection (?viral) with spread now to lower respiratory tract since cough is persisting beyond 05 days. Super added bacterial infection also can not be ruled out.
Since azithromycin can cause abnormal changes in the electrical activity of the heart that may lead to irregular heart rhythm,you need not continue beyond 6-7 days.
Instead a course of broad spectrum antibiotic ,particualrly amoxycillin and clauvulin acid combination will work better as it will cover hemophylus influenzae apart from host of other gram +ve and gram -ve bacterias.
Meanwhile please undergo complete blood count for further work-up.

Well come to HCM
NO need to take any antibiotic now instead condition can be managed with long acting antihistamine and the best option would be Tab Levocetrizine 10 mg three times in day, heart symptoms may be due to some functional condition and not due to medicines, have a nice day.
