Hella, I have a friend dealing with severe constipation. Once when I had surgery, I developed constipation. My home nurse suggested warm ginger ale n something else which I canno remember what it was, but within an hour I had a bm. Can u plz help me?? Thx so much
Understanding your concern. As per your query your friend is having severe constipation and that is making you uncomfortable which could be due to eating a lot of dairy products, irritable bowel syndrome, some medications like antidepressants, acidity and certain conditions like hypothyroidism. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement, osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity. For now drink lot of water, do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. Drink plenty of water and fluids and take diet rich in roughage and fibers.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
