Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Cold

I have been experiencing a variety of symptoms over the past month that are causing me concern. First, I seemed to develop a cold in my throat that caused a sensation of fullness, combined with nighttime pulsing--it felt like I had mucous and could not cough it up. I thought it could be post-nasal drip combined with allergies. After 2-3 weeks, exhaustion followed. Just as I began feeling better, I have now discovered blood in my bowel movement. WTH? Could this be some weird virus that has traveled to throughout my body or should I see my doctor asap?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Cold and cough that persists for longer duration should be treated with appropriate medicines adequately with a physician’s advice. In your case assuming that you have not seen a doctor for the same and it got resolved on its own but after some duration, presence of blood in the stool is something that needs medical attention.

Presence of blood in the stool can be due to several causes, like hemorrhoids, constipation, infection, mucosal injury etc. I would suggest you see your doctor regarding it as with all medical history and careful clinical examination. It is necessary to find out the reason behind it and there might be the need for some diagnostic tests to be done if your doctor feels so. Once the reason is clear, your doctor will be able to guide you with appropriate medical management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
