Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough

Quite a few years ago I had a cough. But the worst symptom was that severe temperature changes from one to another such as going from the heat into the air conditioning would literally take my breath away. Strong floral scents would do the same thing. The doctor diagnosed it I believe with a blood test and prescribed a z pack. I cannot remember the name of the issue. I thought it started with an H and I would know it if I heard it but cannot remember. I believe my roommate now has the same issue. Thoughts?

Hello,

I don't know the age, gender, and duration of cough. For proper diagnosis u need to write all this basic information clearly. Secondly, sever cough can be caused by various pathogens.

Your roommate needs tests like CXR (APV and LV), RBT, ESR CRP, as an initial test. If your roommate has no Tuberculosis, Asthma, Allergy, and GERD then I prescribe him Tab. Montair 10 mg BID for 3 days, Tab Cefixime 400 mg OD for 3 days, Tab levofloxacin 500 mg BID for 3 days, Tab pantoprazole 40 mg OD for 3 days, and cough syrup.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sandeep Kumar Karn, Internist / Hospitalist
