General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to know that has your husband consulted a physician before taking opioid pain killers (oxycodone).

Since underlying causes of difficulty in bowel movements is important, it would be best to consult a general surgeon so that he can investigate further with clinical examination(proctoscopy) and other radiological investigations.

Constipation can occur due to ingestion of iron tablets. Lifestyle modification of dietary habits can help him i.e, increased intake of fibres, drinking of at least 2-3litres of water per day, over the counter husk powders can help in constipation along with daily routine exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
