Suggest Treatment For Severe Degenerative Disc Disease

I have been recommended to a neurosurgeon by my PCP for severe degenerative disc disease. He said there probably isn t anything to be done for me except pain control. I am not ready to give in and would persue surgical treatment if reasonable. Should I bother with a consultation ? Judy

Hi,

Severe degenerative disease can not be cured, though the symptoms of discomfort and pain may be taken care of. The progress of disease may be slowed down to reasonable extent by change in life style like proper postures, physiotherapy, structured exercises, healthy nutritious diet etc. However, if the symptoms are more agonizing and not controlled by medicines, then surgical intervention is the only option, for giving relief to the patient.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
