Suggest Treatment For Severe Depression And Suicidal Tendency
I ve been diagnosed with CTE but my current psychiatrist doesn t think it s CTE. In any case, it s severe clinical depression. I ve gone through all sorts of pills and 7 brain doctors without help. Pills make me worse every time. I m suicidal and get worse by the week. Are there any new treatments for my condition? Mike Dyott, YYYY@YYYY
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts
I can understand your concern. Persistent suicidal tendencies, depression not responding to treatment come under resistant depression and need detailed evaluation and treatment. Low vitamin B12 levels, hypothyroidism, cushing's disease etc are common co-morbid conditions associated with resistant depression. Evaluation to rule out these conditions is advised.
Medicines like SSRIs or SNRIs are used in combination of augmentation drugs like Lithium, Thyroxin or Bupropion. These medicines help to improve the depressive symptoms. Some times low dose antipsychotics are used. RTMS or ECT is last resort when medicines fail. Please visit a doctor for help.
Thanks, Hope this helps you.
Take care
