Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea, Gas, Headaches And Nausea

I m a diabetic, my body had not been digesting my 75 me extended release metformin. So the other day I started 500 regular release metformin. I also take 5 mg glipizide. but I got terrible diarea, and stomach gas, and headaches, and nausea. I decided not to take today and felt sooo much better. I took tonight and I m stating up all over again. Will this be going on for awhile cause I also got very cold, too. This is all staring again. Will this keep going on for awhile? Cause idk if I can keep feeling this bad?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

See, nausea vomiting and diarrhea are common initial side effects of metformin. But it will get normal as you get adjusted to the dosage. I would suggest you to continue with your drug and take some anti-diarrheal drugs along with. Take tab PanD daily and take tab paracetamol 500 SOS for headache. You can also ask your doctor and change into extended release metformin and sitagliptin or vildagliptin combination.

Hope this was helpful.
Regards
