Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea In An Infant

Salaam...my baby is 5months old and he is having loose motion for 3 days now during 2nd day there a bit of blood like maroon mixed in his stool but it stop on the 3rd day. We r giving him ORS and doctor prescribed coliespan syrup and nutrolin B syrup 2.5ml BD but i haven t given it yet..to him because i honestly have doubts u see i lived in an island and there is no pediatrician only clinic which is y i have my doubts please help me what should i do?. And also hes is not breastfed only bottle feed my milk supply is very very less he is not latching tried everything to boost my milk any suggestion because im planning to breastfeed him again when i start feeding him solid. Thank very much

Hi,
Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. I have seen many cases with similar complaints. Please find my advice below-:
1)Maintain fluid and salt by giving ORS solutions every 30 mins,If dehydration occurs admit him and give by IV drips at hospital.

2)Give AB-CEF SYRUP (Antibiotics) 8 mg/kg two times a day upto seven days.
3)Take 1ST CAL-Z syrup once a day up to 14 day.(zinc supplements)

4)After recovery give him a dose him one dose of vitamin -A syrup
5)Try to give breast milk and if using feeding bottles wash it carefully and boil in a container before feeding.Give him boil water to drink.
