Suggest Treatment For Severe Discomforrt In The Ears

Good morning! My 9 year old son is complaining of ear discomfort. He says it feels like someone is covering his ear with their hand. So there is a muffled sound. His ear doesn t hurt and he doesn t have a fever. However, he did have a bit of a cold recently with a runny nose. What are my options? Thanks, Rebecca

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned it is due to imbalance of air pressure so visit your ENT Doctor now and Your Doctor may prescribe medications to control conditions that may obviate the Eustachian tubes from functioning well. These drugs may include[Decongestant nasal sprays] and [Oral decongestants]. With your drug treatment, your Doctor will also instruct you to utilize a self-care method called the [Valsalva maneuver]. Once the medications have improved the function of the Eustachian tubes, use of the Valsalva maneuver may force the tubes open.so do it after 48 hours of taking medications.

Hope that helps
