General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, prevention is best possible intervention during pregnancy with:
- Supplementation with folic acid
- Balanced nutrtious diet
- Avoidance of smoking, alcohol if consuming

The anti convulants use during pregnnacy is highly related to developmental malformation as cleft palate, spinal cord disorders and others.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
