Suggest Treatment For Severe Eye Pain

Why is my left eye hard, and often vey painful, to open after having been closed? This can happen after being asleep, or even after being closed for a very short time, almost invariably after lying on my right side or sitting up. However, it is less frequent after lying on my left side. Thankyou.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to conjunctivitis. I recommend using painkillers for the pain such as Ibuprofen three tablets a day.

I also recommend using artificial tear for local application. If the symptoms continue I recommend seeing an ophthalmologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
