Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache And Fever With Throat Pain

My son, 15, has been fighting something for about 2-2.5 weeks. Started with extreme tiredness, then headache and throat discomfort, not a sore throat but said itfelt weird and waxy, cough, fever off and on, and dehydration. Went to doc and tested neg for strep and mono. This week it seems to have gotten worse mainly the headache and fever. He said tonight that his chest hurt a bit. Any idea what I m dealing with? Or suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, very sorry for your son's condition. Fever, headache, throat pain indicates respiratory infection, tonsillitis, viral fever. Does he have shortness of breath , cough?
Kindly do a complete blood count. If fever persists ,he may require antibiotics. To reduce the fever you can give acetaminophen or paracetamol and keep him well hydrated with lot of fluids. Encourage him doing warm saline gargling which will relieve throat pain. Hope he becomes better soon.
